Almost ready for the road trip!

Hey everyone,

So Andy, Jim, and I have been in Dunedin a few days now and have been spending most of our time getting ready for this road trip. We have just about acquired a car... a 1995 Subaru Legacy that is in pretty good condition and we have been planning the other logistics for the road trip (i.e. gear, meals, whatever else we could possibly need). I am going to save the details about the road trip for the next post because Andy is going to start posting on the blog as well and we thought we would do that one as a joint post.

Yesterday our friend Jono drove us around the Dunedin area and we got to have a much better look at how much Dunedin Sprawls out around the Otago Peninsula. The first spot we went is Mt. Cargill, which is a fat mountain that gives pretty much a 360 degree view of the Otago Peninsula. the view up there was unreal and it was really cool to get some perspective on the town that we will be living in. From there we drove down to a couple surfing beaches to check out the waves and learn how to get to the surf spots. The closest surf spot to our house is about five minutes away...so hopefully we will be doing quite a bit of surfing. One things to note about the beaches down here, ITS COLD! I will have to muster up a bit more motivation to get out in the water than I would in San Diego cause its so damn cold...but hey thats part of Surfing so its all good.

After driving around Dunedin for a while, Andy, Jim, and I went for a run around the town and than hung around all evening playing poker and just keeping it mellow with a few friends we've made. We are trying to get the mellow hang out time in now because we are about to be cruising hard as soon as we get on this road trip.

So for now this is what is going on down under, but Andy and I will post a pre-road trip post together before we head out!
